We had never enjoyed the infamous bird-stuffed bird-stuffed bird before, but this year we were treated to TWO helpings of the monsters thanks to the likes of Don “Red” Hauge and Tim “Take-take” Dotson. They were both de-freakin-licious and over the top.
Red’s was done with Hieu Nguyen of Mojo Cafe for Thanksgiving and involved a foie gras dressing, so he actually added a fourth bird. Should have snuck the quail in there somewhere. We enjoyed the company of many members of our St. John family and ate forever. I enjoyed the Eagles’ win.
Timmy made two birds for Christmas dinner at the Inn at Tamarind Court. His double triple threat had bonus smoked duck breasts that fattened the avian ogre to a size that tested the very fibers of the turkey skin. He could not physically fit anymore of the meat, dressing, butter or anything into that hole . See the ensuing hilarity, assisted by Jenn Hickney below.
